House of the Lord

"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord' ".    (Psalm 122: 1, NLT)

I have heard our pastor and others say, "When I was younger, I had a drug problem.  I was 'drug' to church."   And, there is truth in that.  Their parents would have made them go to church, even though they did not want to go at that time.  I'm sure they would have preferred to have been outside, playing sports, spending time with their friends---anything, but sitting in a church, listening to another sermon.

Do you wake up on Sunday mornings, delighted to know this is the day the Lord has made, and you're going to be able to go worship Him in his house? Or, do you awaken thinking you would really like to be out on the lake, in the boat, rather than 'having' to go to church? What is your attitude towards corporate worship? Is it a chore or a delight?

David was glad when he was able to worship in the Lord's house.  He had a close relationship with God outside of the Temple, so David enjoyed being in the Lord's presence, inside His house.  Like David, our attitude towards God will determine our view of worship, corporately and individually.  Let's get excited when it's time to go to church.  You're going to spend time with your Lord and Savior, the creator of the universe!

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name."  (Psalm 100: 4, NIV)
