Me and My Shadow

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  He will cover you with his feathers.  He will shelter you with his wings.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection."
(Psalm 91:  1, 4   NLT)

The "shadow of His wings" is a figure of speech symbolizing God's protection.  Just as a mother bird protects her young by covering them with her wings, God wants to guard and protect us from danger or harm.

God is our shelter and refuge for when we are afraid.  We must trade in our fears and have faith in Him.  But, in order to do this, we must dwell and rest in God.  We can't just have a "casual" relationship.  It's when we live in His presence that we can find the rest we are looking for.

Just like the words from the song made famous by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr., "you'll never get rid of your shadow" or "no soul can bust this team in two", God's presence follows us wherever we go.  "It's just me and my shadow, strolling down the avenue"

Thank you, Lord, for always being there.  I'm thankful I can find rest in You!
